Agar Black – Heat & Pour or Instant Self Mix (1L Kit)

Agar Black is a high-contrast culture medium formulated to enhance visibility of bright white mycelium during culture work and laboratory research. Colored with organic activated carbon, this specialized formula creates a deep black background that makes contamination spotting, sectoring, and clean transfers easier and more precise.

Available in both Heat & Pour (premixed and sterilized) and Instant Self Mix variations, this product provides flexibility for professional labs, educators, and serious cultivators. The Heat & Pour version arrives fully sterilized and ready to use — simply warm until liquefied and pour at 50–60°C. The Instant Self Mix version includes dry contents; just add 1 liter of distilled water, heat, and mix thoroughly on a magnetic stirrer before sterilization.

Each kit includes a 1 Liter Borosilicate 3.3 Media Bottle and magnetic spin bar, ensuring durability, even heat distribution, and smooth dissolution. If preparing the self-mix version, leave the cap on but loosened during pressure cooking. Tighten until resistance is felt, then back off ¼–½ inch to allow proper steam exchange and prevent pressure buildup.

This premium agar dissolves smoothly, sterilizes reliably at 15 PSI for 15–20 minutes, and produces firm, consistent plates ideal for cloning, culture isolation, and research applications.
